That’s not a picture of beef! It’s pork!

Local stock is back in inventory, friends! This time around we have local pork of the Mangalitsa breed from right here in Massachusetts.

If you haven’t heard of Mangalitsas, their name is pronounced mahn-ga-leets-ah and means “hog with a lot of lard”. They are “the Kobe beef of pork” with their deep, red meat and their flavorful marbling and are considered among the tastiest pork in the world.

Originally from Hungary, this heritage breed is making a comeback after near extinction in the ‘90s when there were only 198 of them left. Despite their resurgence, they’re still a very special and limited breed. You’ve definitely never had pork like this!

You can get your hands on this gorgeous meat by popping in to our Billerica location or heading up to Nashua and stopping in at Pig Tale on Amherst St. This rustic-chic eatery serves “carefully sourced” comfort food and is now serving our Mangalitsa pork.
